About Collection

Filigrana momposina “Mompox filigree” is characterized by the use of the "open pierced" technique - work in miniature dimensions. The word filigrana comes from the latin words filum (thread) and granum (grain), so its literal translation is “granulated thread.” The technique is the process of stretching, twisting and flattening a very high quality of strands of gold or silver in order to produce high quality and beautiful jewelry. Filigree jewelry looks somewhat fragile, but is actually very durable and strong.

TO CLEAN: Use a SOFT toothbrush to remove any excess dirt. Coat the jewelry with silver cream or toothpaste and gently work it into the design.  Rinse with warm water.  Slowly dry the filigree work so that the cloth does not catch in the pierced open work and therefore damage it.  Always make sure that your jewelry is completely dry before storing it.  Do not expose to cleaning chemicals, make-up, lotions, soaps and/or perfumes as it may tarnish your filigree jewelry.

STORAGE: Keep in jewelry bag and airtight container (tin can) when not used.
